Chance The Rapper celebrated his 29th birthday by giving away 1,500 free meals in his hometown of Chicago. Some entertainers celebrate birthdays by popping bottles and others buy new toys but Chance took his special day as an opportunity to give back, as he always has. Today’s artists are not just making beats, they’re business owners and humanitarians. Rap is all grown up and at 29, Chance The Rapper is one of the genre’s most mature ambassadors.
The food giveaway was organized through SocialWorks, Chance’s nonprofit organization. The organization “aims to empower the youth through the arts, education, and civic engagement. Since 2016, SocialWorks has created 5 initiatives that present youth the opportunity to learn and act on their passions. SocialWorks’ programming focuses on education, mental health, homelessness, and performing and literary arts – directly affecting thousands of youth yearly.” The organization represents hope for a great number of people who need it.
Smaller minds put their money only into a good time. Big thinkers invest in a good life and that consists of what you do for others. Cheers to you, Chance!
