The office building has six floors overlooking the Brandywine and Christina Rivers in downtown Wilmington. It’s worth close to $5 million but has been sitting vacant for a few years. Thanks to the generosity of Capital One Bank, it now belongs to Delaware State University. $5 million is a lot of money but this building, in the hands of a prestigious Black College, will generate an economic impact far greater. Delaware State University (DSU) is growing and Rap Snacks has an invested interest.
The Rap Snacks Foundation is active at “Del State” through Innovation Café. Innovation Café is an on-campus café franchise and fully integrated entrepreneurship & financial literacy program. Del State's main campus is located in Dover. This expansion to Wilmington signals a new day and a host of fresh possibilities. The space will house the university's school for graduate, adult and continuing education students, a workforce development center, and an incubator that will target minority and women-owned businesses. Capital One’s involvement will extend beyond the donation of prime real estate. The company also announced a new mentoring program that will pair Capital One executives with Del State sophomores beginning in the spring.
The future is bright at Del State, along with the possibilities of this new center in Wilmington. Thanks to the leadership of the school and Capital One’s generosity, the university is starting a new chapter and the Rap Snacks Foundation will eagerly look to expand its impact.
